Finishing the Modern Firo Developer Library by nexusocean

The Current Challenge

Right now, if a developer wants to build something with Firo — a wallet, a payment processor, a block explorer — they need a way to talk to Firo's core software. The official tool for that hasn't been meaningfully updated since 2014.

Every major coin has a modern developer toolkit. Firo should too.

So what happens today? Developers either write their own solution from scratch, or pass private closed-source code between each other. None of that work feeds back into the ecosystem. It's duplicated effort, over and over, with nothing to show for it publicly.

An open-source library changes that. It lowers the barrier for new developers to adopt Firo, and makes it significantly easier for exchanges, wallets, and other services to integrate — which directly benefits the network and Firo holders.

Current Progress

This isn't starting from zero. I've already built @nexusocean/firo-rpc — a modern, open-source TypeScript library published on npm and running in production today, handling real transparent Firo transactions alongside Monero, Ethereum, and stablecoins.

It currently covers about 40% of Firo's RPC interface — enough to handle payments, power block explorers, and support basic wallet tooling.

What This Funding Would Do

This proposal is to finish what's already started, and to broaden the scope beyond my own use case so it genuinely serves the Firo ecosystem.

Even experienced blockchain developers won't know how Spark transactions work without significant research time — that's exactly the kind of friction a well-documented library eliminates.

The remaining work covers Firo's most important and unique features:

• Spark support — Firo's flagship privacy technology, and the most critical missing piece
• Masternode methods — essential for network tooling
• Raw transaction handling — needed for advanced wallet and exchange integrations
• Light wallet methods — enables lightweight, user-facing apps
• Full test suite — tested against a live Firo node throughout development
• Documentation and real-world examples — so any developer can get started quickly
• Ongoing maintenance — committed to maintaining the library long-term as an active member of the Firo developer community

The result is a complete, well-documented, open-source library — free to use, forever. I'm happy to transfer the library to the official Firo GitHub org on completion, or whatever arrangement the team prefers.

I'm a Firo community member myself — just one who contributes code rather than capital. The 40% already built, already published, and already running in production is my contribution to this ecosystem regardless of whether this proposal is funded. Consider it a matched effort: you fund the remaining work, and I bring everything already done to the table.

With that in mind, I'm open to whatever amount the community feels is fair and sustainable. I'd rather agree on a number that works for everyone and ship this than hold out on a figure. What matters most is that this gets finished.

I built it. It's live. It's already installable. Funding this doesn't start a new project — it finishes one that's nearly halfway done and already delivering real value to the ecosystem.
